    David will cover:

    1. How to communicate with your HCM technology provider to ensure a smooth year end transition
    2. Early Review of Forms 1095-C and 1094-C
    3. W-2 hot buttons
    4. S-Corp concerns
    5. Plan for legislative changes relative to employement laws for multi-jurisdictional organizations (non-conforming jurisdictional tracking)


    Speaker: David Messenger, CPA

    Speaker Bio:

    David Messinger is a Certified Public Account (Delware, inactive and Virginia, active-CPE exempt) and a member of the AICPA and VSCPA. David received his Masters in Taxation from Virginia Commonwealth University ("VCU"). Including the required tax curriculum, David elected to study Legal Foundations of Employment for Human Resouces Professionals. The class focused on compliance with various Department of Labor regulations including the FLSA and the operation of the Department of Labor. Wage and Hour Division. he also elected to take a managment course that focused on how the nation's most successful companies manage and empower their Human Capital. David received his Bachelors in Accoutning from the University of Miami and held various Executive Board positions for Alpha Epsilon Pi.

    David started his career working for two large CPA firms in Manhattan (David Berdon and Company, now Berdon and Eisner, now AmperEisner). He ran nueous audit engagements and agreed upon procedure engagements. David ended up focusing on specialty lenders and was eventually hired as the Financial Reporting Manager by one of the nation's largetst non-depository governmental and conventional lenders. David was charged with managing and supervising independent audits, bank convenant compliance and reporting, and financial reporting (SEC registrant). David also monitored payroll processing for 400 employees across 40 states and countless local jurisdictions.

    David met his wife Jackie while working at the same company. Also a CPA, they decided to start a small CPA firm in the Northern Neck of Virginia (his wife's home region). David worked closely with startup entities helping them establish appropriate internal controls, employment tax and human resouce compliance, state and local tax compliance, and ultimatley federal tax compliance. As the practice grew, David focused on working closely with establish and growing businesses. His primary focus was related to employment tax compliance and controversy as well as regulatory compliance. David frequently consulted with clients regarding Human Capital Management best practices and has been a party to numerous Virginia Employment Commission examinations as well as other federal and state compliance examinations. Founded over a decade ago with clients nationwide, David's former firm continues to prosper and has decided to focus on tax controversy and customized tax compliance programs.

    Currently, David is a Human Capital Management Consultant with Paylocity (PCTY). David works closely with prospects and clients within the middle market and national market space. He is charged with helping entities create efficiencies within their human resource infrastructure by utlitizing cloud native payroll and human resouce technology. David also focuses on establishing strategic partnershps by leveraging Paylocity's approach to business and industry standard, best of class compliance solutions. David started his career as a Human Capital Management Consultant with ADP, LLC.

    David prefers to be outdoors. David is an avid conservationist and enjoys both hunting and fishing. David is a former scholastic wrestler and soccer player and his wife is a former Division 1 athlete for Virginia Tech. Both David and his wife cross train on a regular basis.
